Upcoming auction items for September

First off apologies for lack of posts lately it has been a combination of nothing very exciting to post about and making a new blackbarnsofas.co.uk website which will be going live in the next few days.

There are now a few nice items coming up in September so here are my picks for you, as usual click the image to go to the relevant page on the-saleroom.com:

At Cheffins, Cambridge on the the 13/14th Sept we have a nice Bridgewater, all original and not missing anything. I am amazed there are still a few examples around in as good a condition as this considering it must 100 years old. I would not be surprised to see the final price hit £3000, may even race past that. Sold for £3400 + commission at a rather eye watering 27% and then vat on the commission take it to just over £4400 total. Still needs probably close to £1000 spent on it plus the dealers mark up I would not expect this to be sold post restoration for much less than £8000.

Next up on the 14th Sept at Philip Serrell, Malvern is run up stool which I believe would partner the above chair perfectly, so it could be an expensive day for someone as I would expect the stool to make around £1000. Sold for a bargain price of £440 + commission. I was disappointed not to be signed in at that price.

Finally on 23rd Sept at JS Fine Art, Banbury a pair of club armchairs. I say pair I do not think these are a perfect pair but I could be wrong, be helpful if the auctioneer posted the numbers, also one has a seat cushion the other does not. The one with the cushion appears to have had a lump of wood added at some point above the front legs to change the shape at the bottom of the arms. We have done enough of these club armchairs to realise that should not be there. Sold for £3600 + Commission at 20%.
